About the Opportunity

A Houston-based organization is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Analyst / Procure-to-Pay (P2P) Specialist to support a modern, systems-driven AP environment. This role is not centered around basic invoice data entry - it requires an AP professional who understands the entire procure-to-pay lifecycle and can independently troubleshoot and resolve exceptions.

This position supports a high-volume, multi-department environment that relies on automated workflows, purchase orders, and cross-functional coordination to ensure timely and accurate vendor payments.

What This Role Truly Focuses On

This role is for AP professionals who:
  • Understand how invoices flow from requisition → PO → receipt → payment
  • Know who to contact and how to resolve issues when something breaks
  • Can navigate P2P systems and resolve exceptions without hand-holding
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage invoices throughout the full procure-to-pay (P2P) process
  • Perform 2-way and 3-way matching within P2P and ERP systems
  • Investigate and resolve invoice exceptions, including:
    • Pricing discrepancies
    • Incorrect or missing purchase orders
    • Quantity mismatches
    • Wrong legal entity or location coding
    • Incorrect vendor setup or contact errors
    • Approval workflow breakdowns
  • Partner with:
    • Purchasing / Procurement teams
    • Receiving / Operations
    • Requestors and budget owners
    • Vendors responding to disputed invoices
  • Navigate and document issue resolution within AP and P2P systems
  • Monitor invoice statuses to prevent aging, duplicates, or payment delays
  • Support AP close activities, reporting, and audit requests
  • Recommend improvements to AP and P2P workflows when gaps are identified
Systems & Tools (Experience With One or More Required)
  • Coupa (strongly preferred)
  • OR other Procure-to-Pay platforms such as:
    • SAP Ariba
    • Oracle iProcurement / Fusion P2P
    • Workday Financials
    • Basware
    • Jaggaer
  • ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics, etc.)
  • Microsoft Excel (lookups, pivots, reconciliation support)
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in full-cycle accounts payable or P2P environments
  • Demonstrated experience resolving invoice and PO exceptions
  • Strong understanding of AP controls and procurement workflows
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, exception-driven environment
  • Clear communication skills - comfortable following issues through to resolution
  • Experience in manufacturing, energy, construction, or large multi-entity organizations is a plus
Pay Details: $24.00 to $28.00 per hour
