Payroll Specialist
Location: Houston, TX
Schedule: Full-time, on-site (Monday - Thursday, 6:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Friday, 7 a.m. - 11 a.m.)
Pay Range: $33.00/hr. - $ 36.06/hr.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare timesheets and verify employee hours.
- Update employee payroll records.
- Coordinate with the Controller to ensure payroll transactions are posted correctly.
- Handle payroll taxes and benefits deductions.
- Remit Form 941 payroll tax payments.
- Process child-support payments/garnishments.
- Process weekly payroll
- Complete certified payroll on a per job basis
- Report monthly union hours and remit payments
- Responsible for processing new hire and termination paperwork as well as governmental reporting
- Monthly, quarterly and yearly reconciliations
- Maintain MVR database
- Respond to employee payroll questions.
- Perform payroll/HR reporting and data entry.
- Reconcile payroll information to financial records on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll information.
- Support other responsibilities assigned by the Controller.
- Payroll administration experience, including payroll data entry, verification and processing.
- Construction or mechanical-contracting industry experience is preferred.
- Sage 300 CRE experience is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of payroll schedules, deductions and employee changes.
- Understanding of payroll taxes and related compliance requirements.
- Basic accounting/reconciliation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with payroll/HR systems and Microsoft Excel.
