Minimum Qualifications Summary
Certification & Education

Degree issuing institution and/or program must be accredited by an entity recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

  • Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology, or an equivalent degree.
  • Masters degree or an equivalent advanced degree preferred but not required.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish, written and oral
Experience Required
  • At least two (2) years of related experience (e.g., providing services to victims, trauma-informed programming, working with immigrants or foreign-born individuals) and knowledge of program objectives, policies, procedures, and requirements for case management at a local level.
  • Experience working with victims or individuals in confinement or custodial settings.
  • At least two (2) years of experience serving vulnerable populations.
  • Understanding of issues contributing to family/individual stress, problems, and crises.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish, written and oral.
Job Objective

The Custody and Resource Coordinator (CRC) assists ERO Field Office and detention facility staff in maintaining a safe environment. The CRC provides services and support to individuals on issues affecting the ICE detained population, such as support for victims, trauma, sexual abuse, domestic violence, human trafficking, and health care. The role involves supporting staff at designated ICE detention facilities or offices and facilitating communication and services for detainees.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with detainee needs, requests, and complaints regarding non-officer or immigration case issues.
  • Support ERO officers with detainee requests related to communication and child welfare.
  • Coordinate disability accommodations and follow-up with detention facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies and detention standards, facilitate discussions on sensitive topics.
  • Address questions about detainees and provide referrals for care and follow-up.
  • Support detainees with special needs, conduct wellness checks, and provide orientation to new detainees.
  • Assist with housing units and programs for vulnerable populations.
  • Provide language interpretation services.
  • Maintain safety and security support within detention facilities.
  • Assist in planning for detainee removal and release, including resource research and development of departure and reentry plans.
  • Develop and maintain a resource database for detainee release and removal activities.
Minimum Job & Technical Requirements
  • Knowledge of case management processes, minimum at a bachelors level.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual environment.
  • Proficiency in telephonic interpretation if not fluent in detainee languages.
  • Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes.
  • Proficient in English (verbal and written).
  • Ability to build positive relationships in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Proficiency with electronic work environments, including health records, web-based tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in detention or healthcare settings preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, critical thinking skills, and cultural competency.
  • Must pass Department of Homeland Securitys Personnel Security screening and be a U.S. citizen.
Physical & Work Environment
  • Work in stressful, austere environments without physical limitations.
  • Capable of standing for long periods.
  • Full-time, Monday-Friday day shift, with potential surge support during crises.
Travel Requirements
  • Travel within the U.S., including overnight, may be required and reimbursed.
Education & Certification

Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology, or equivalent. Masters preferred. Current certification in BLS or CPR from American Heart Association or Red Cross. Proof of negative TB test and immunizations for Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, and Influenza required.
