ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead all night warehouse operations to achieve safety, service, quality, productivity, and cost objectives.
Champion a safety-first culture by ensuring compliance with company safety policies, OSHA standards, and warehouse operating procedures.
Develop, coach, and mentor Warehouse Managers through performance management, leadership development, and ongoing training.
Build and maintain high-performing teams through effective hiring, onboarding, retention, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
Partner with Warehouse Managers to address performance gaps and improve productivity, safety, attendance, and service levels.
Ensure the accurate receiving, storage, inventory control, order selection, and loading of products.
Monitor food safety and quality assurance standards to ensure compliance with HACCP requirements and company policies.
Analyze operational, labor, inventory, safety, and financial data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce waste, improve efficiency, enhance productivity, and control operating costs.
Review and approve daily operational load plans while ensuring orders are completed accurately and delivered on schedule.
Maintain inventory integrity through audits, cycle counts, product rotation, and inventory control processes.
Oversee warehouse facility conditions and equipment maintenance to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
Collaborate with Transportation, Sales, Inventory Control, Maintenance, and Human Resources teams to support operational objectives.
Investigate operational issues, safety incidents, inventory discrepancies, and customer service concerns while implementing corrective actions.
Support labor relations activities and work with Human Resources on performance management, employee relations, and workplace concerns.
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
SUPERVISION:
Directly manages Warehouse Managers and warehouse support personnel, including Operations Clerks, Warehouse Clerks, Will Call Clerks, Slotting Clerks, Truck Builders, and other warehouse administrative staff.
Provides indirect leadership to warehouse operations associates through the management team, including Selectors, Loaders, Receivers, Forklift Operators, and other warehouse personnel.
Leads and develops warehouse management teams to ensure achievement of safety, productivity, service, quality, and employee engagement objectives.
Oversees workforce performance by partnering with managers and supervisors to support coaching, training, performance management, staffing, and development initiatives.
Promotes accountability and operational excellence across all warehouse functions while fostering a culture focused on safety, customer service, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
RELATIONSHIPS
• Internal: Warehouse leaders and coworkers; Transportation leaders; Internal customers across departments (e.g., Sales)
• External: Vendors
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• The work takes place in normal warehouse environments as well as in cooler and freezer areas where temperatures may be as low as -5 degrees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Related Experience/Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of warehouse leadership or supervisory experience in a high-volume distribution, foodservice, food manufacturing, grocery, retail distribution, or logistics environment.
Proven experience leading and developing Warehouse Managers, supervisors, and hourly associates while driving engagement, accountability, and performance.
Demonstrated ability to manage warehouse operations, labor productivity, safety performance, inventory accuracy, and service-level objectives in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience utilizing warehouse management and operational reporting systems.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong leadership, coaching, and people-development skills with the ability to build and lead high-performing management teams in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Comprehensive knowledge of warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory control, product storage, order selection, loading, labor planning, and productivity management.
Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, HACCP, food safety standards, and other regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance and operational excellence.
Ability to interpret and analyze financial, operational, labor, inventory, and safety metrics to identify trends, solve problems, and drive business results.
Proven ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across all levels of the organization, including Operations, Transportation, Sales, Human Resources, and executive leadership.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, Teams, and other business applications used for reporting, workforce management, and operational analysis.
Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), inventory control systems, and operational reporting tools, with the ability to leverage technology to improve efficiency, accuracy, and performance.
Travel:
•10% travel required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Licenses/Certifications:
• HACCP certification a plus.
• PCQI certification a plus.
