Our Katy, TX based agency client is looking for to start a temp to perm Production Artist with a prepress background to work onsite 5 days a week to start:
Start: ASAP after interview process
Duration: temp to perm
Pay: $30-$33/hr temp (60-70K perm)
Onsite 5 days per week in Katy, TX to start, some flexibility with working remotely in future
Position Summary:
The Production Artist is responsible for translating creative concepts into accurate, production-ready files across print and digital channels. This role bridges design and execution, ensuring brand consistency, technical precision, and adherence to production specifications, deadlines, and vendor requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
File Preparation & Production
Prepare final artwork files for print, digital, packaging, OOH, and marketing collateral
Ensure all files meet technical specifications (dimensions, bleed, resolution, color profiles, dielines, etc.)
Perform preflight checks to confirm accuracy before release to vendors or internal deployment
Adapt master designs into multiple sizes, formats, and versions
Quality Control
Review layouts for alignment, typography accuracy, image quality, and brand compliance
Correct formatting, spacing, and consistency issues
Verify color accuracy (CMYK/RGB/Pantone) and output settings
Maintain version control and naming conventions
Collaboration
Work closely with Graphic Designers, Art Directors, Marketing, and Print/Digital Vendors
Interpret creative briefs and design intent while applying production best practices
Troubleshoot production challenges with vendors and internal teams
Asset Management
Organize and maintain production files, templates, and digital assets
Archive final files according to company workflow standards
Manage font libraries, linked assets, and templates
Process & Workflow
Follow established brand guidelines and production workflows
Manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, templates, and production systems
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Technical Skills
Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop required)
Strong knowledge of:
Print production (bleed, die lines, )
File packaging and preflight
Experience preparing files for:
Offset and digital print
Large format
Packaging production
Professional Skills
Exceptional attention to detail
Strong organizational and file management skills
Ability to follow brand standards precisely
Time management and deadline discipline
Clear communication with creative and production teams
Preferred Qualifications
2–5+ years of production art or prepress experience
Experience working with print vendors and understanding print specifications
Knowledge of packaging die lines and mechanicals
Familiarity with DAM systems or workflow tools
Basic motion or digital ad production knowledge (HTML5, social formats)
Education
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Work Environment
Fast-paced, deadline-driven creative or marketing environment
High-volume asset production
Cross-functional collaboration with design, marketing, and external vendors
