Korn Ferry has partnered with our client on their search for a Finance/Accounting Analyst – Hydrocarbon.

- The company is implementing new technology platforms, such as Right Angle (ETRM software), to improve data-driven decision-making and financial analytics across the business
Role Summary:
- Title: Finance/Accounting Analyst – Hydrocarbon
- Reports to: Controller's Organization (Manager-level oversight expected)
- Team Involvement: Cross-functional collaboration with Contract Admin, Traders, Schedulers, Risk, FP&A, and Technical Accounting teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for the Crude Supply business unit
- Prepare daily cash forecasts related to hydrocarbon procurement and sales; analyze daily variances for Treasury
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of hydrocarbon purchases, sales, and transfers in line with GAAP and contractual terms
- Review executed commercial deals for complex pricing structures and collaborate with Technical Accounting to assess embedded derivatives or speculative positions
- Generate and submit customer invoices; resolve disputes and ensure alignment with contract terms
- Conduct pricing and volume verifications with suppliers and customers
- Support internal and external audit activities; ensure compliance with all accounting standards
- Analyze business performance and contribute to financial reporting, data accuracy, and process improvements
- Participate in ERP system enhancements and special projects including automation, reporting, and compliance initiatives
- Mentor junior analysts and help identify opportunities to strengthen internal financial processes
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; CPA or advanced certification (CFA, CMA) preferred
- 2+ years of financial reporting, GAAP compliance, or transactional accounting experience
- Strong understanding of oil/refined products trading and physical/derivative accounting preferred
- Familiarity with SAP and Right Angle is a plus
- Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau
- Proven ability to interpret complex financial data and drive strategic recommendations
- High level of communication, critical thinking, and collaboration across business units
- Able to identify GAAP discrepancies and propose corrective action proactively
