Job Overview

A confidential organization in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support high-volume payroll operations in a fast-paced environment. This role is best suited for a payroll professional who is adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with minimal supervision during periods of change.

Key Responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately across weekly, bi-weekly, and/or semi-monthly cycles
• Support high-volume payroll for union and non-union employee populations
• Balance and reconcile payroll prior to submission
• Process overtime, bonuses, adjustments, and off-cycle payrolls
• Maintain employee payroll records including tax setup, direct deposits, and garnishments
• Support multi-state payroll processing and compliance requirements
• Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and internal partners
• Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee data

Qualifications

• Payroll experience in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
• Multi-state payroll experience; California preferred
• Experience with payroll taxes and garnishments
• Strong attention to detail and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-changing environment
• Proficiency with Excel and payroll systems

Preferred Experience

• Union payroll exposure
• In-house payroll or gross-to-net processing experience
• Canadian payroll exposure
