Description
Job Summary:
We're seeking a technically proficient Operations Engineer to drive data-driven improvements across our sort center network. This role involves working at the intersection of operations, engineering, and analytics, utilizing Python, SQL, and visualization tools to transform complex operational data into actionable insights.
The ideal candidate will collaborate with multiple stakeholders to validate designs, optimize processes, and implement evidence-based solutions that improve operational efficiency. This position is key in linking daily operations with long-term strategic planning through data-driven decision making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Analytics & Process Improvement:
- Lead data analysis initiatives using Python and SQL to identify operational trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and visualizations in QuickSight to monitor key performance metrics.
- Create models to optimize sort center operations and material flow based on data.
- Translate complex operational data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
- Cross-functional Partnership:
- Act as the technical liaison between Operations, Supply Chain, and Design Engineering teams.
- Collaborate with Sales and Operations Planning to align capabilities with strategic goals.
- Work with material flow teams to enhance throughput and efficiency.
- Support capacity planning with data-driven insights.
- Design Validation & Implementation:
- Review and validate sort center designs from an operational perspective.
- Ensure operational requirements are accurately reflected in design specifications.
- Use historical data to inform future design decisions.
- Provide quantitative feedback on design performance and potential improvements.
- Program Monitoring & Reporting:
- Develop monitoring systems for sort center performance.
- Create automated reports using Python and SQL.
- Build dashboards to track key metrics and project status.
- Generate performance reports with insights and recommendations.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency gains.
- Lead experiments to test improvement hypotheses.
- Document and share best practices.
- Update operational standards based on analytical findings.
Daily Responsibilities:
As an Operations Analytics Engineer, you will analyze weekly trends, investigate operational issues using Python and SQL, and create visualizations to communicate findings. Collaboration with planning teams and leadership is essential, providing data-driven insights for capacity planning and strategic decisions. You will also respond rapidly to operational challenges with data analysis and present your insights in meetings, continuously aiming to improve sort center operations through data-driven strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related STEM field
- 8+ years of experience in roles such as Project Engineer, Process Engineer, Project Manager, or Manufacturing Engineer
- Experience managing cross-functional projects and implementing automated systems
- Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in engineering, operations, supply chain, or business administration
- Experience with Lean Management, Six Sigma, and other operations tools
