Sky High for Kids is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring the community together to provide comfort, fund research, and save the lives of those fighting pediatric cancer and other life-threatening conditions. POSITION SUMMARY

Sky High for Kids is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Director of Development & Marketing with 10–12 years of demonstrated success in fundraising strategy, donor cultivation, marketing leadership, and brand management within the nonprofit sector. This dynamic leader will play a critical role in elevating our fundraising and marketing efforts, expanding national donor reach, enhancing brand visibility, and driving revenue growth to support children and families battling pediatric cancer.

This is a high-impact leadership position, responsible for overseeing donor development, corporate sponsorships, event fundraising, storytelling, and multi-channel marketing strategy. The Director reports directly to the CEO, manages a cross-functional team, and works collaboratively with board members, ambassadors, volunteers, and external partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Fundraising & Donor Development

· Participate and manage the organization's annual fundraising goal of $10MM+.

· Lead, execute, and optimize comprehensive fundraising strategies across individual giving, special events, major gifts, foundation grants, corporate partnerships, and peer-to-peer campaigns.

· Cultivate, solicit, and steward a robust portfolio of high-impact donors and prospects, maintaining a clear moves management process.

· Oversee all aspects of donor database management (CRM), ensuring accuracy, segmentation, and strategic utilization.

· Collaborate with CEO and Development Board Chair to expand funding opportunities and secure multi-year commitments.

· Analyze and forecast revenue performance across fundraising channels; prepare reports and dashboards for leadership and board review.

· Drive innovation in giving programs including family membership bundles, charity of choice partnerships, and legacy giving.

· Manage annual budget.

Marketing & Communications

· Lead the development and execution of a holistic marketing and communications strategy that enhances the visibility, relevance, and impact of Sky High.

· Oversee the execution of digital marketing campaigns (email, social media, SEO/SEM), public relations, newsletters, and storytelling content to grow supporter engagement.

· Ensure consistent and mission-aligned brand messaging across all print, digital, and in-person channels.

· Oversee collaboration with creative vendors, agencies, and internal staff to develop compelling collateral and campaign materials for events, giving days, and corporate campaigns.

· Track and report key performance indicators for marketing initiatives.

Leadership & Strategy

· Hire, develop, and mentor development and marketing staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and mission alignment.

· Serve as a key advisor to the CEO, helping shape long-term growth strategy, brand positioning, and stakeholder engagement.

· Represent Sky High at events, meetings, and speaking engagements to raise awareness and cultivate partnerships.

· Champion innovation, continuous improvement, and servant leadership throughout the organization.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field required.

· 10–12 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and marketing with a proven track record of meeting and exceeding revenue goals.

· Demonstrated leadership of integrated development and marketing functions.

· Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

· Expertise in donor relations, campaign management, corporate partnerships, and nonprofit communications.

· Knowledge of donor databases/CRMs (e.g., Blackbaud, Bloomerang, Salesforce, etc.) and marketing automation tools.

· Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to think strategically while executing tactically.

· Willingness and ability to travel, work evenings/weekends as needed for events and outreach.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

· Competitive base salary commensurate with experience

· Potential annual performance bonus determined by CEO in December

· Discretionary spot bonuses throughout the year

· Health insurance including medical, dental, vision, and long-term disability (BCBS PPO)

· $60/month cell phone stipend

· Paid travel expenses: mileage reimbursement ($0.50/mile) or fuel on corporate card; $50 daily meal per diem

· 3 weeks paid bonus vacation (week of July 4th, Christmas, and New Year's – office closed)

· 80 hours of paid time off (PTO) per year (20 hours per quarter)

· “Comp Days”: 1 day off for every 7 consecutive days worked

· Paid holidays: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Martin Luther King Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (Thursday & Friday), Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day

· Mandatory team-building events: Annual staff retreat and quarterly offsite team day

EMPLOYMENT TERMS

· Assessment Period: Initial 90-day evaluation, during which either party may terminate employment without notice.

· At-Will Employment: Ongoing employment is not bound by contract and may be terminated at any time by either party.

· Two weeks' notice required in the event of voluntary resignation.
