Job Title: Operational Accounting Manager – Accounts Receivable & Commissions Payable

Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid Work Flexibility)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Overview:

A leading organization in the automotive services industry is seeking an Operational Accounting Manager to oversee critical functions related to Accounts Receivable and Commissions Payable. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on financial operations, dealer support, and continuous process improvement. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise and effective team management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable Management

  • Oversee invoicing, collections, and reconciliations
  • Monitor AR aging and implement strategic collection efforts
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external dealerships to resolve billing discrepancies

Commissions Payable Oversight

  • Manage commission calculations and payment processing for sales personnel and dealers
  • Maintain accurate incentive tracking and payout schedules
  • Work closely with the sales department on commission structure updates

Dealer Relations & Communication

  • Serve as the main point of contact for dealer billing and commission inquiries
  • Provide training and education on payment procedures and reconciliation
  • Address escalated dealer concerns and communicate changes to billing policies
  • Prepare and analyze AR and commission reports
  • Identify trends and provide actionable insights to leadership
  • Support financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities

Process & System Improvement

  • Identify and implement enhancements in AR and commission processes
  • Leverage automation and system improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to optimize reporting tools
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals
  • Ensure productivity, performance, and collaboration within the team
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and results-driven work environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 5–8 years of relevant accounting experience, including at least 3 years in insurance, claims operations, or similar industry
  • Demonstrated success managing AR and commission-related functions
  • Strong business acumen and process improvement mindset
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in client or dealer-facing roles
  • Prior experience managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally (up to 10%)
