Job Title: Network & Security Specialist

Location: Houston, TX

General Role Description

Research, recommend, and execute plans for the organization's information technology network and security architecture.

Role Accountabilities

  1. Define and maintain efficient protocols for safeguarding data and ensuring data accessibility to support daily operations.
  2. Ensure the implementation of adequate security measures to protect the company's diverse information systems and assets.
  3. Develop, test, and update data protection and accessibility plans for inclusion in the business continuity plan and execute as needed.
  4. Conduct needs analysis, solicit bids, formulate options for procurement and rollout of networking hardware, software, and services, and implement as approved.
  5. Define and sustain efficient processes for monitoring, detecting, and rectifying security and performance issues in networking, personal/mobile computers, and communication platforms.
  6. Maintain essential cybersecurity-related documentation and procedures.
  7. Perform, track, and report regular cybersecurity audits and tests to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.
  8. Monitor network resources continuously to ensure availability to meet the company's needs.
  9. Implement network updates and security enhancements with minimal disruption to business operations.
  10. Provide reports on infrastructure effectiveness and recommend new procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7 years of experience in networking and security management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Identity, Security, and Compliance.
  • Experience with Cisco networking infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of security policies and frameworks.
  • Proven ability to expand team knowledge and share expertise proactively.
  • Experience leading IT projects from concept to deployment.
  • Strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal contacts.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and network/security tools.
  • Availability to travel domestically and internationally (<5%).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with security policies and frameworks such as NIST SP 800-171 and PRISM.
  • Familiarity with recognized business process methodologies.
