Position Summary

The Senior Finance Manager at IES Residential plays a key strategic and operational role in guiding the financial success of the organization. This position is responsible for leading the financial planning and analysis function, managing complex financial operations, and serving as a business advisor to senior leadership. The role oversees accounting, reporting, budgeting, and compliance across residential construction projects, with a strong focus on performance analysis and business partnership.

  • Lead and manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes across multiple regions and projects.
  • Provide financial leadership to support business strategy, including scenario modeling, margin optimization, and resource allocation.
  • Analyze business performance and financial results, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Supervise project invoicing, WIP schedules, and job cost reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Drive process improvements in financial reporting, accounting workflows, and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with operations, project management, and corporate finance teams to align financial goals with project delivery.
  • Lead the finance team in Houston and provide oversight/support to regional financial personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX requirements, manage quarterly audits, and respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the VP of Finance and CFO with special initiatives including capital projects, M&A evaluations, and systems implementations.
  • Interpret contract terms and assess financial impact on revenue recognition and project accounting.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes across multiple regions and projects.
  • Provide financial leadership to support business strategy, including scenario modeling, margin optimization, and resource allocation.

Specific Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive finance/accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or senior finance role.
  • Experience in residential construction, large-scale contracting, or a project-based environment preferred.
  • Proficient in ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics (D365 Finance & Operations) experience strongly preferred.
  • Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI or Tableau is a plus.


Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and SOX compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in job costing, project financial management, and performance analysis.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence decision-making at the executive level.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Work Environment/Requirements

  • This role is based at the IES Residential office in Sugar Land, TX.
  • Standard office environment with occasional field site visits.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
