Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)


Calpine is seeking a team-oriented Systems Engineer intern for its downtown location. Under broad management direction, you will assist in the overall systems infrastructure including engineering, implementation and integration and technical services and support for assigned client/functions


Job Responsibilities


+ You will learn to work with the Team to determine the system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.


+ You will learn to analyze and define complex system requirements and prepare studies; formulate and define specifications for operating software programming applications or modifies/maintains existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer.


+ You will work with the Team to design, code, test, debug, and document those programs and coordinate the design of subsystems and integration of total system.


+ You will work with Business Analysts in the introduction and deployment of new business enabling technologies which support process reengineering efforts.


+ You will assist in monitoring the overall performance to proactively identify potential issues and tune appropriately.


+ You will assist in performing root cause analysis on failed components and implement corrective measures.


+ You will assist the Team in the responsibility for applications dealing with the overall operating system, such as sophisticated file maintenance routines, large telecommunications networks, computer accounting, and advanced mathematical/scientific software packages.

Job Requirements


+ Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university, working towards Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, preferred.


+ Rising Junior or Senior, completion of at least 30 hours.


+ Minimum GPA 3.0


+ Legally eligible to work in the United States now and in the future for any company.


+ Excellent communication, problem solving, and analytical skills


+ Must be flexible and able to work harmoniously with others


+ Good organization skills and attention to details are essential


+ Ability to quickly adapt and learn new technologies and concepts.


+ Exposure to Windows and Linux operating systems, database technologies, web application. servers, and/or automated testing tools.


+ Exposure to Application installations, configuration, and/or administration.


+ Exposure to Cloud computing technologies.


+ Exposure to Powershell, Python, or batch.
