Overview
Director, Software Engineering - Payment Services. This role serves as the Payments Technology point of contact and partners with technology and business leaders to provide multi-year technical vision and strategy aligned to business goals. The director acts as a key technical domain leader within PULSE Payments Technology and across the Business Technology organization, leading multiple technical teams and fostering a culture of risk awareness, accountability, and high performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product-focused software engineers.
- Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team.
- Work with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios.
- Continuously improve software engineering practices.
- Collaborate within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across full-stack development tools and technologies.
- Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions.
- Stay current with tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal and external technology communities, and mentor other engineers.
- Encourage innovation, cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity.
- Improve the velocity of your team and other teams.
- Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments.
- Break existing monolithic applications into microservice architectures and build new microservices.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 7 years of experience in software development
- At least 5 years of experience in people management
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or Master's Degree in Software Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in software development
- 5+ years of experience in Agile practices
- Payment Services or financial services experience
Compensation and Benefits
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on hours worked. Location-specific ranges:
- Riverwoods, IL: $239,900 - $273,800 for Director, Software Engineering
- Houston, TX: $239,900 - $273,800 for Director, Software Engineering
- McLean, VA: $263,900 - $301,200 for Director, Software Engineering
Candidates hired in other locations will be subject to the pay range for that location, and the actual offer will be stated in the offer letter.
This role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI). Incentives may be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
