Cititec are working with a growing commodities trading firm who are looking for a motivated and technically strong Software Engineer to join their power commodity trading team. This is a great opportunity for someone with foundational software development experience and a keen interest in financial markets and energy trading.
You will help build and maintain analytical tools, real-time data feeds, and trading support systems in collaboration with traders and analysts. This role offers exposure to a fast-paced trading environment and opportunities for technical and domain learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing and developing applications that support power commodity traders and analysts.
- Work on real-time data feeds for market data, pricing, and trading signals.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, traders, and quantitative analysts to gather requirements and implement software solutions.
- Contribute to building and optimizing data pipelines and API integrations.
- Support the development of dashboards and visualization tools for analytics and market monitoring.
- Participate in testing, maintenance, and performance tuning of existing systems.
- Stay engaged with evolving technologies in software engineering and trading systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in software development (internships or full-time roles).
- Strong with Python Development, but experience with other languages such as C#, Java, or C++ is also appreciated.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on a power desk, or another commodities desk.
- Familiarity with market data APIs or financial data tools.
- Knowledge of energy markets or trading concepts is a plus but not required.
- Experience with real-time systems, streaming data, or data visualization tools is a bonus.
