Fulcrum Technology Solutions is looking for an AD specialist for a client in the Houston market. The Senior Active Directory (AD) Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft Active Directory, Azure AD, Single Sign-On, Multi-Factor Authentication systems, and related Windows-based systems across the enterprise. This role involves maintaining AD architecture, ensuring global security, policy configuration, and providing top-tier support. The engineer will monitor vulnerabilities and remediate them as needed while collaborating with teams to implement new solutions in alignment with business requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily system monitoring to verify hardware, server resources, system integrity, and key processes.
  • Review security, system, and application logs, ensuring scheduled jobs are completed.
  • Design and implement secure and robust Active Directory and Identity systems for global initiatives.
  • Lead projects through implementation, working collaboratively with IT, security, and support teams.
  • Monitor systems for vulnerabilities, track, prioritize, and remediate issues per policies.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and problem management for Identity Management environments.
  • Provide escalation support for domain and identity technology issues beyond initial support teams.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Active Directory and third-party software utilities.
  • Create and maintain system documentation, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and problem resolution.
  • Develop and enforce security controls within Active Directory.
  • Manage user, group, and computer permissions and settings.
  • Deploy and test security controls, including GPOs and endpoint configurations.
  • Follow existing procedures to perform routine assignments and address standard issues.
  • Analyze and apply best practices in decision-making for operational support.
  • Complete moderate support requests and escalate complex problems as needed.
  • Collaborate with teams to assist in troubleshooting efforts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to develop, document, and enforce security procedures and controls.
  • Strong knowledge of server virtualization technologies (VMware/Microsoft).
  • Expertise in Microsoft Identity technologies, including Active Directory, Azure AD, Certificate Services, Federation Services, Rights Management Services, Lightweight Directory Services, Group Policy, Single Sign-On, and Multi-Factor Authentication.
  • Proficiency in PKI, DNS, DHCP, WINS, DFS.
  • Experience with Identity Governance Administration and Privileged Access Management.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure, server architecture, networking fundamentals, Windows environments, virtualization technologies, and security protocols.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently with a high emphasis on quality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Availability for on-call rotations and occasional evening or weekend work as required.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, LDAP, and PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), PKI, and Azure AD.

Education, Licensure, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of IT experience, with 3-5 years in Identity technologies (Active Directory, Azure AD, Federation, Multi-Factor Authentication, Identity Governance, and Privileged Access Management).
  • 5+ years of IT engineering experience in a global IT infrastructure environment.
  • Preferred certifications in Microsoft Technology, Microsoft Server Administration, or Information Security.
