Overview:
A public sector client of ours in Houston, Texas is looking for an IT Support Technician for a mid-term that is likely to extend into next year. This role is onsite in their Houston office.
The IT Support Technician is responsible for providing technical support and assistance to our clients' end-users, ensuring that all computer systems, software, and hardware are running efficiently. This role also helps maintain and support their network infrastructure to ensure consistent connectivity and uptime.
The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of computer systems and networks, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to collaborate with external IT service vendors. A proactive approach to problem-solving and excellent communication skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to software, hardware, and connectivity.
- Install, configure, and maintain computers, peripherals, and software applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve printing, scanning, and general peripheral issues.
- Oversee performance and conduct routine maintenance of all IT systems.
- Set up new equipment and ensure proper installation of operating systems and telephone systems.
- Conduct computer diagnostics and provide help desk-style support for end-users.
- Collaborate with external IT vendors and software providers as needed.
- Maintain and support network infrastructure, addressing connectivity issues.
- Prepare clear and detailed reports on IT operations and system activity.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- General Competencies:Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of network system installation, maintenance, and repair
- Familiarity with a range of operating systems and IT hardware
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prepare documentation and provide user training or support as needed
